I have been away for a long time, now the day I get into my mail,I see this horrible news ;-( ... Alex always had a away to make us look at things through his eyes, we may not have always agreed with him, but when it was time to see him launch P Motors in huge rockets we stood in AWWWWWW!!! Alex was and in our hearts is a bright visionary who pushed out side the box many, many times. Alex will be missed by all.
I Will Miss You Alex

Shock is the first feeling, Very sad.
Alex was one of the first persons I meet when I wandered out to the launch site at Brothers. His support for the BORG projects and his love for rocketry leaves me without words. I think I need to go fly something....
My thoughts and prayers go to the family and all of his many friends in this tragic time of loss.
just speechless,

All I have been saying all day is, "Damn it"! I really liked Alex. I always thought of him as a "Guerilla Rocketeer" in the best sense of the term. At least for me it was cool to watch (and sometimes help) with all his projects--which were always cool, one way or another. Hell, he was just a punk kid when I met him out at Monroe--the good old days for Puget Sound rocketry for sure.
He will be missed...

I posted some pictures of Alex on NWR. The one labeled Alex and team hung in his living room. Rick Clapp took that picture at Balls 2004 and Alex told me it was his favorite because his good friends were in it doing what they loved to do.
I am so sad that he is gone it is hard to put into words. Yea, it sucks bad, no way around it, but I think it is better to serve his memory by sharing the fun times, as many have said, Alex was many things, but depressing he was not. He was full of life and animated, and that is the way I choose to remember him.
So, any more good pictures or stories?

Gosh - I've been sitting here at work staring out the window for the last couple of hours, totally unproductive, slammed to the gills with dead-lines to meet and it all doesn't matter. Our good friend Alex won't be around any more and rocketry won't be the same without him. I'm totally bummed. Heck, we were suppose to do lunch today...
Anyway, per Scott's request, a picture of Alex that says it all can be viewed at the official BALLS website - you'll have to scroll down a bit to get to it.

We will miss you good buddy.

Not sure how to explain Alex when a co-worker asked what was the matter. All I could do was tell him that some one special had passed away. It's hard not to miss the physical part of Alex, but he is in all of us in one way or another.
He touched all of us with gusto and passion for rockets. He certainly lived life large.
He is missed.

Thoughts on Alex..
In resent weeks my thoughts have been buried in day time job crap and this is very sad news of a good friend passing..
My first involvement with Alex was the all aluminum West Coast Hybrids projects that Alex, Mike Roland & myself flew the first year of FITS at the new location of Mansfield WA.
Alex's crew and myself work cross border to meet in Washington State never having met in person and have two successful flights of an L & M bird with fins welded to the case of one of our production motors. Alex built the upper airframe section including cameras with Mike Rolands help and the flights went off without a hitch. The airframe and motor had never been joined until a few hours prior to flight!!
From my first meeting of Alex I knew I had met another nut case such as myself... His love for rocketry superseded mine and he went on to orchestrate much larger projects than most rocketeers could hope of in a life time. We had talked recently of a 6" hybrid to solid P configuration or was that a solid to hybrid configuration,, we could never agree on which motor would be the sustainers as I think Alex just wanted to upstage my fart motors as he love to call them.. After the flights at Mansfield and while chatting on line Alex was always ready to post a good review of the flight and the motors performance, hard to get in a small niche market and I always appreciated it. It's sad to think that he will not be around to complete such projects and I know he never lost the dream of it.
During the flights at Mansfield I remember being in such a rush and walking away from the M bird only to turn to one another and ask "did you arm the electronics?" who me!!, thats your job! Thats Alex! TONS of great memories, you'll be missed..
I'll look through my photo's and post a few good ones when I get a chance.
A good friend gone but never forgotten.

Folks,
I'm very saddened by the news of Alex's passing. While I'm a newby, I have the pleasure of saying I've met him only once. Extremely nice person to chat with - and sad that those chats cannot continue. While I know you all have had much longer friendships with Alex, I wanted to take some time and add some value.
I have collected the comments from the northwest teams today and placed them all on a Word document. Including those pictures posted on NWR today in memory of Alex. The Word document contains all of the responses and comments made by those day. If those of you feel Alex's mom would value from this collection of comments, please feel free, in sympathy, to send her the word document with the collection of friends commenting.
Word doc is at http://old.rocketsnw.com/uploads/Remembering%20Alex.doc (Sorry, I know this isn't an image or video)
Again, I'm only trying to add some comfort to todays very sad news. I read numerous comments today about Alex and felt proud to be part of a organization of folks that care so deeply for each other. I hope reading the word document and seeing the pictures all in one place adds some comfort.
