  Alex will be sorely missed.

His efforts, and enthusiasm for going higher, and bigger and faster is the same reason I keep going in this challenging and rewarding hobby. His humor, always impeccably timed. He stood up for what he believed, and protected as much as he could those that he cared for.

I remember when Alex, Jason Ayers, Alex's dad Jim and I went to LDRS in the black rock desert to see LDRS and to also Witness the Downright Ignorant project take off, the ride down was really fun, we sang theme songs from TV shows, narrowly missed a head on with a greyhound bus (their fault) and almost hit a jack rabbit but we tasted all the camping cuizine, smelled the smells of a black rock launch, bacon, AP, the cool morning mists, and grit from blowing sand, Alex and Us couldn't have been happier, we've watched Alex grow up to be an exceptional man, who dared to dream big and try new things, he was bold and fearless in the scope and execution of his projects, it has been a pleasure to grow up with Alex and I am going to miss him alot.

It's taken me some time to come to grips with Alex's death. As many know he and I meet when we were 12 and grew up together and into rocketry.
Some of my best memories are of our long chats about how when we were older we may some day fly an "M" motor...we flew a "Q" and multiple P's last year:-)
I truly will miss you buddy.

Like many others, I met Alex in the ROL chat room. I always looked to forward to chatting with him, and seeing pictures of the projects he was working on. I never got a chance to meet him outside cyberspace, but could easily tell that he was good person.
Godspeed, Alex! You will be missed.

In an earlier post I mentioned how a friend of Alex had said a good memorial would be to "fly them high, and fly them loud"
My L1 rocket just seemed too small.
Since that last post I build that cert 2 rocket and flew it getting my L2 for NAR.
I've been wanting to do this for some time, but it also became a way for me to remember and say goodbye to Alex"

Sitting around the campfire won't be the same without ya.

I wanted to post this for all of you who knew Alex - his ashes were indeed launched and scattered to the winds aloft. Deployment was at Brothers, Oregon on Saturday May 19. The link is for pictures taken that day - at the bottom, in 2 different formats, is a video of the launch - flying on the last P motor Alex made himself. His TeamNumb buddies did a marvelous job of assembling a beautiful rocket and making sure the canister of ashes was successfully opened. Estimates are the rocket went to about 31,000 feet. All TeamNumb rituals were observed including the donut offering for the Gods :) In the pictures I'm the one in the blue hat and later in the white Tshirt - Alex's shirt appropriately added to and now reading "Thank God I'm Alex's Mom"... oh and the TeamNumb Shirts were purchased by me for the team last year :) - Thank you all for being his friends
