🌕 WAC Moonliner Contest Rules

Hosted at Sod Blaster 2025 and in support of the Tri-Cities Rocketeers Sod Blaster “Race to the Moon” contest: Contests - Tri-Cities Rocketeers, Washington Aerospace Club is hosting our own event.

Welcome to the most glamorous event in model rocketry! Whether your Moonliner is a sleek silver bullet or a lovingly hand-painted masterpiece, this is your chance to show it off and maybe even take home a laser-engraved plaque of glory.

✨ Contest Categories

1. Prettiest Moonliner (Beauty Contest)

- Judged on aesthetics, craftsmanship, and overall wow-factor.

- Must be flown at Sod Blaster 2025 before 4:00 PM on Saturday to qualify.

- WAC’s own 30-inch Moonliner is excluded from competition (sorry, house rockets don’t count!).

2.  1969 Challenge

- Fly your Moonliner as close as possible to 1969 feet—a nod to the year of the Moon landing.

- Closest altitude wins. Bonus points for style.

🧑‍⚖️ Judging

- People’s Choice Award: Voted on by attendees using a simple ballot system (e.g., “I vote for #5!”).

- Judging Time: All entries must be on the judging table by 5:00 PM Saturday. Winners will be announced during the evening raffle.

- Must be a Moonliner-style rocket.

- Must be flown at Sod Blaster 2025 before the judging deadline.

 - Must be present on the judging table by 5:00 PM Saturday.

- Must be awesome.

🗳️ Voting & Display

- Rockets will be displayed on tables for public viewing and voting.

- Voting forms will be quarter-sheet ballots available at the contest table.

- Judging and voting will occur during the raffle window.
