🌕 WAC Moonliner Contest Rules
Hosted at Sod Blaster 2025 and in support of the Tri-Cities Rocketeers Sod Blaster “Race to the Moon” contest: Contests - Tri-Cities Rocketeers, Washington Aerospace Club is hosting our own event.
Welcome to the most glamorous event in model rocketry! Whether your Moonliner is a sleek silver bullet or a lovingly hand-painted masterpiece, this is your chance to show it off and maybe even take home a laser-engraved plaque of glory.
✨ Contest Categories
1. Prettiest Moonliner (Beauty Contest)
- Judged on aesthetics, craftsmanship, and overall wow-factor.
- Must be flown at Sod Blaster 2025 before 4:00 PM on Saturday to qualify.
- WAC’s own 30-inch Moonliner is excluded from competition (sorry, house rockets don’t count!).
2. 1969 Challenge
- Fly your Moonliner as close as possible to 1969 feet—a nod to the year of the Moon landing.
- Closest altitude wins. Bonus points for style.
🧑‍⚖️ Judging
- Panel of Judges: Selected for their excellent craftsmanship and impartiality (i.e., they don’t have a Moonliner in the contest).
- People’s Choice Award: Voted on by attendees using a simple ballot system (e.g., “I vote for #5!”).
- Judging Time: All entries must be on the judging table by 5:00 PM Saturday. Winners will be announced during the evening raffle.
